CANRI Projects 2000-2001

Funding of $992,000 was provided for 31 projects in 2000/2001. Of these projects, 27 are now complete with 23 projects providing direct information access or other benefits to the community and/or government agencies. The other four projects are dependent upon the completion of other systems. All projects involved some form of in-kind contribution from agencies and incomplete projects will be completed from in-kind agency funding, at no further expense to CANRI.

Projects have been undertaken in the following areas: fauna, flora, environmental indicators, salinity, coastal stream information, soils, National Parks, Landcare group information and agricultural land classification. The projects covered all six themes addressed in the CANRI business case.

Outputs from these projects include website access to a range of natural resource information, improved performance (via infrastructure enhancements), data enhancements and development of a simple generic user interface builder for future CANRI applications.

Expenditure for 2000/01 was $992,000.  Presentations of these projects were given by natural resource agencies to the CANRI Board on 9 November 2001 including presentations by the CANRI Coordination TeamAustralian Museum , National Parks Wildlife Service and Environmental Protection Authority as well as the  Image Web Server project.  The table below presents a summary of the outcome and status of each project with links to project  completion or progress reports.
