Title: Effects of Shoreline Disposal of Construction Spoil on Epibenthos and Rocky Reef Fish Bondi, Sydney, Australia
Custodian: Environment Protection Authority NSW
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
Sydney Water Board was granted a licence by the State Pollution Control Commission to dispose of, into the ocean, rock and sand material from the tunnel which was built to extend the sewage outfall at Bondi, NSW. Part of the licence condition required that the effects of the spoil disposal on rocky reef biota be monitored. This report presents the findings of the subsequent monitoring programme. Three studies of biota on the reef at Bondi were carried out. One was a study of epibenthos using photographic transects, another was a study of reef fishes using visual survey techniques, and the third was a survey of sea urchins, primarily Centrostrephanus rodgersii, using visual survey techniques.
