Title: Differentail Accumulation of Metal Contaminant Studies of Cockles and Oysters in Lake Macquarie NSW
Custodian: Environment Protection Authority NSW
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
This dataset contains the results from observations on the accumulation of metal contaminants in Oysters and Cockles in Lake Macquarie, NSW. Lake Macquarie is known to have high concentrations of metal contaminants in sediments and the water column at one end of the lake, whilst the other end is cleaner. By taking cockles and oysters from regions of differing pollution levels in the lake and transporting them to other regions, the prefferential accumulation of contaminants from sediments or water column can be determined. The accumulation of contaminants over a 2 month period between September and November 1991 was used in this trial.
