This dataset contains the results from studies of kelp and associated benthic invertebrates from various sites in the inter-tidal regions of the Illawarra. At various sites near sewage effluent discharge points (Port Kembla and Bellambi) and at control sites, monthly surveys and samples were collected between May and June 1991 and between October 1991 and August 1992. The concentration of metal and organochlorine contaminants in Pyura stoloniferie and Cellana tramoserica were determined. The numbers and changes in the benthic invertebrates associated with the kelp were determined.
