Title: Malabar Sewage Outfall NSW Benthic Invertebrate and Sediment Quality Monitoring

Custodian: Environment Protection Authority NSW

Jurisdiction: New South Wales

Description

Abstract:

The dataset was collected to investigate small scale spatial and small scale temporal data from benthic ecosystems. The data consists of family level counts of all benthic animals sampled using a Smith McIntyre grab. Data on sediment chemistry (trace metal concentrations and nutrient concentrations) and sediment structure (% fines etc) are included. This dataset includes the results from monthly monitoring of sediments and benthic invertebrates at the Malabar Sewage Outfall, Sydney, NSW. It also includes data for sites using a gradient of distances south of the outfall. Between February 1995 and February 1998, surveys of the distribution and numbers of benthic invertebrates were conducted and the majority of sediment samples were also analysed for nutrients and metals. This was used to monitor the effects of the effluent discharge from one of Sydney's Deep Water Outfalls.
