This datasets contains the results from surveys to monitor the soft sediment benthic communities off the Syndey sewage outfalls. Surveys were conducted every 3 months between December 1989 and February 1993. The benthos occurrence, distributions and abundance were monitored, together with the sediment characteristics. Sampling took place at the 3 outfalls (North Head, Bondi and Malabar) and at nearby control sites. The major groups studied were Polycheates, Crustacea and Molluscs.
