Title: Groundwater Level Data

Custodian: Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources (DIPNR)

Jurisdiction: New South Wales

Description

Abstract:

The groundwater level data originates from records kept by the department since the 1900's. Level data is used as monitoring information in managing the State's aquifer systems. The data is measured at varying frequencies depending on monitoring programs. It is captured statewide.

Spatial domain:

Geographic extent name:
NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
Geographic extent polygon:
141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5

Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)

Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Data quality

Lineage:

Data sourced from historical records. New monitoring data is entered into the database through monitoring runs.

Positional accuracy:

Low-moderate accuracy unless data point has been surveyed.

Attribute accuracy:

High for data logger results with frequent measurement collection. Moderate to high for manual collection based on sampling frequency.

Logical consistency:

High for electronic (calibrated) and manual water level collection.

Completeness:

Coverage is low, although the State's main aquifers all have monitoring points.
