Title: River Flow and Height Data
Custodian: Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
State wide river flow and height data (upstream of tidal limit). 33 000 years of flow data for 1 600 sites. Also rating tables, stream gaugings and river cross sections. Some continuous Water Quality data (Temp, pH, EC, DO , turbidity). Data captured to enable long term catchment management.
- WATER Surface
- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Streamflow data produced from observations of River height and height/discharge observations. Height observations range from once daily to continual analog and digital. Processing backlog may occur with analog record. Real-time data from some sites is available.
Positional accuracy:
Locations of sites read from 1:20000 maps . Sites are now being located by GPS.
Attribute accuracy:
Most data prior to 1990 is unverified. Post 1990 data is quality reviewed at two levels and labelled with codes indicating data quality.
Logical consistency:
Site data is compared with neighbouring sites on an ad hoc basis for pre 1990 data. Post 1990, comparison checks are performed as part of a quality assurance program.
Completeness:
Site coverage is determined by available funding.
