Title: Study of Fish Resources in NSW Rivers

This project commenced a study of the health of NSW rivers and their freshwater fish resources. The research consisted of a comprehensive survey of riverine fish populations at 120 sites thoughout NSW. It provides a baseline for future monitoring of fish stocks and a survey structure that can be adapted for future monitoring. Sites are being sampled twice a year for two years with data to be collected on fish species, representation, relative abundance and biomass, and habitat attributes. This project was partly funded by the Natural Resources Audit Council (NRAC). The study was undertaken in four regions of NSW: North Coast, South Coast, Darling and Murray.
