Title: NEW SOUTH WALES DTDB HYDROGRAPHY THEME MEDIUM SCALE DRAINAGE
Custodian: Department of Information Technology and Management (LPI)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
There are 1105 Digital Hydrography spatial data partitions covering the area of New South Wales contained within the Drainage layer (DRN) of the DTDB. These partitions contain the drainage details of the NSW topographic map archive corresponding to 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000 mapping areas represented on the Australian National Map Sheet Breakdown System.

- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Drainage captured from photogrammetric compilations prepared from Aerial Photography. Triangulated, Field Completed and Cartographically Enhanced by the Land Information Centre. Data capture by contract, digital scanning & edit or table digitisation. Flowing and Quality Assurance processing by the Land Information Centre. Update program commenced 1998 utilising scanned orthophoto imagery at a scale of 1:50000 and a small amount of mobile GPS capture.
Positional accuracy:
Initial digital data collection is within 0.3mm of position at map transparency scales of 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000.
HORIZONTAL ACCURACY- Ten percent of well defined points tested will not be in error by more than 0.5mm of the scale of the source document.
Subsequent data alterations or additions are reflected by their capture code ranging from orthophoto trace or mobile GPS fixation for recent updated data with an accuracy of 12.5 metres to an estimate of true position with an accuracy of up to 100 metres.
Attribute accuracy:
Tag syntax is checked against Land Information Centre codes for the Drainage Layer comprising the Hydrography Theme.
Logical consistency:
All features are labelled
All lines intersect at nodes
Lines do not unintentionally cross
The data may contain construction lines that do not physically exist
There are no duplicate lines
Lines do not overshoot or undershoot
All lines are labelled
All polygon boundaries close
All polygons are not labelled
No polygons have duplicate labels
All points, lines and polygons are topologically related
Data partitions are edge matched against adjoining partitions where applicable.
Completeness:
Spatial data is complete for finalised digital partitions and there are no data thresholds used. However data content for NSW is generally incomplete when compared to existing printed topographic maps. Each partition is brought up to 100% on finalisation after update and revision.
