Title: NEW SOUTH WALES DTDB HABITATION THEME
Custodian: Department of Information Technology and Management (LPI)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
There are 1105 Digital Habitation spatial partitions covering New South Wales. This theme contains buildings as either point features or area features dependant on size. It also contains public and commercial recreational facilities as point features.
- HUMAN ENVIRONMENT Structures and Facilities
- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Topographic point and polygon features captured by scanning or table digitisation off stable base master transparencies produced by the Land Information Centre to reflect the 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000 standard topographic map coverage of New South Wales. Limited update to country towns with a population exceeding 400 persons utilising 1996 colour aerial photography at a nominal photo scale of 1:160000, and local contacts where possible. Commenced update program 1998 utilising scanned orthophoto imagery at a scale of 1:50000 and a small amount of mobile GPS capture. Storage is in geographic partitions in Genamap vs 6.2P.
Positional accuracy:
Horizontal Accuracy - Initial digital collection is within 0.3mm of map transparencies at scales of 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000. Subsequent data alterations/additions are reflected by their capture code ranging from orthophoto trace or mobile GPS fixation for recent updated data with accuracy of 12.5 metres to estimate of true position with accuracy of up to 100 metres.
Attribute accuracy:
All data is generally consistent with LIC hard copy map coverages of NSW supplimented by limited colour aerial photography based updates. Linkages within the Genamap/Oracle environment are subject to automatic verification, ensuring 100% data integrity.
Logical consistency:
All points are labelled
All polygons are labelled.
All points, lines and polygons are topologically related.
No polygon has duplicate labels.
Data partitions are edge matched against adjoining partitions where applicable.
Completeness:
Data content is generally incomplete when compared to existing printed topographic maps. Partitions subject to update and revision are 100% complete for scale of capture.
