Title: NEW SOUTH WALES DTDB UTILITIES THEME
Custodian: Department of Information Technology and Management (LPI)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
The digital Utilities Theme is contained within the NSW DTDB Cultural Layer. There are 1105 Digital cultural data partitions covering the area of New South Wales. This theme contains the electrical ditribution grid for transmition lines and cables of 33kv or greater, pipelines for the conveyance of natural gas and canals or pipelines constructed for the delivery of water. The cultural partitions correspond to 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000 mapping areas represented on the Australian National Map Sheet Breakdown System.

- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Topographic line features captured from photogrammetric compilations prepared from Aerial Photography, Field Completion and Cartographic Enhancement by the Land Information Centre. Scanned and vectorised on Optigraphics 3100 to ODF files for editing using MEWS software then translated to Genamap Import files for final editing. Data Quality Assured and progressively upgraded through comparison with current maps, directories and aerial photography by the Land Information Centre. Limited update to country towns with populations exeeding 400 persons utilising 1996 colour aerial photography at a nominal photo scale of 1:16000, and through locally dervied information where possible. Upgrade program commenced in 1998 utilising scanned orthophoto imagery produced at a scale of 1:50000 and a small amount of mobile GPS entry.
Positional accuracy:
Initial digital collection is within 0.3mm of map transparency at scales of 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000.
HORIZONTAL ACCURACY - Ten percent of well defined points tested will not be in error by more than 0.5mm of the scale of the source document.
Subsequent data alterations or additions are reflected by their capture code ranging from orthophoto trace or mobile GPS fixation for recent updated data with an accuracy of 12.5 metres to an estimate of true position with an accuracy of up to 100 metres.
Attribute accuracy:
All data and linkages within the Genamap/Oracle environment are subject to automatic verification, ensuring 100% data integrity.
Logical consistency:
All points are labelled
All lines intersect at nodes
Lines do not cross unintentionally.
There are no duplicate lines.
Lines do not overshoot or undershoot.
All lines are not labelled.
All polygon boundaries close.
All polygons are labelled.
The data may contain construction lines.
Where data is stored in partitions, these are edge matched against adjoining partitions where applicable.
Completeness:
Spatial data is complete for the entire data set.
Attribute data is available for the whole data set. There are no data thresholds used.
