Title: NEW SOUTH WALES DTDB TEXT
Custodian: Department of Information Technology and Management (LPI)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
Text for the NSW DTDB. There are 1105 Digital data partitions covering the area of New South Wales. The text layer contains geographic descriptive identifiers ond names sourced from a number of authorative locations. The text layers (TTM) correspond to 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:100000 mapping areas represented on the Australian National Map Sheet Breakdown System.

Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Text data was initially captured into the TN layer from the Geographic Names Register (GNR). This data was later supplemented with returned Public Sector Mapping Agency (PSMA) data to form the NOM layer. In 1996 the data was subject to limited update for towns with a population exceeding 400 persons to form the 'nomup' layer. The current update program to produce text data suitable for mapping purposes commenced in 1998 and revises all previous text layers combining them into the 'TTM' layer.
